At The Sprout Foundation, we are committed to addressing the unemployment in South Africa by empowering youth with the tools and opportunities they need to build successful careers. Our first annual career expo held at the Blue Roof Conferencing Centre and NPO marked a significant milestone in our mission. The Sprout Foundation’s mandate revolves around providing support to unemployed youth and under-resourced schools, recognising the critical need for access to information and opportunities in shaping future career paths. With this in mind, we prepared for our first annual career expo, driven by the belief that every individual deserves a chance to explore and pursue their passions. Our primary goal was to create an inclusive platform where unemployed youth and high school students could interact with a diverse range of exhibitors representing local government, higher education institutions, and corporations from various industries.
The Blue Roof Conferencing Centre and NPO provided the perfect backdrop for our career expo, offering a welcoming and conducive environment for meaningful interactions. Approximately 20 exhibitors joined us, offering invaluable insights and opportunities to our attendees. The expo was abuzz with energy and enthusiasm as participants explored different career paths and possibilities.
One of the highlights of the event was the diverse mix of attendees, including unemployed youth and grade 11 and 12 students from schools in the area. Their eagerness to learn and explore was palpable as they engaged with exhibitors, asked questions, and sought guidance on their career journeys. We were thrilled to provide lunch for all attendees, ensuring that everyone felt valued and cared for throughout the day.
