Key Takeaways for Job Readiness

In November 2022 we held another Sprout Foundation Job Readiness Day. Four eager and dynamic candidates came through for a day of learning to successfully equip yourself to secure a job.

The day was filled with information, tips, skills and practical exercises necessary for the workplace. The group covered CV writing, interview skills, networking skills, office etiquette and had the opportunity to practice one-on-one mock interviews.  The interviewers provided meaningful feedback that the candidates can use and apply going forward in their job search. Each candidate also had a professional photo taken, which they could use for their LinkedIn profiles. At the end of the day the candidates were awarded with a certificate.

The feedback received from the group was extremely positive, with all four candidates writing to us to say how much the day benefitted them. The group learned many skills about job-seeking that they did know before, such as appropriate questions to ask your interviewer in an interview and why it is important to adhere to HR policies and codes of conduct.

One of the candidates who had learnt about the importance of being well prepared for an interview wrote back a couple weeks after the programme to say she had been for her first interview since the programme and managed to secure a job!

She writes, “Thank you so much for The Sprout Foundation programme. It helped me a lot. I did an interview for an education assistant job, and guess what? I was selected for next year!”.

We are overjoyed by news like this and are so excited for the future of all the candidates that come through our programmes
