Every year the staff from the Affinity Group raise funds to assist in donating food parcels to the learners in need at Isihlangusabasha Primary. Many of the learners are reliant on the complimentary meals they receive from school at lunch time as their only meal for the day. Other than this meal, many of them do not eat again until the following day.
The Sprout Foundation recognizes the importance of children being fuelled with nutritional meals to develop and function well at school. Having a well-supported schooling career is crucial to success after school and escaping poverty.
We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received in all our food parcel drives. The impact of these drives goes far, as educators have fed back to say that learners return to school happier and healthier looking when they have had enough food to eat over the holiday period.
